Therefore if you want one of your summons from your specialization, like Fire Elemental, you will eventually find it by researching Non-class based Strategic Spells. So what shows up next is selected randomly based on those rules. So it will try to have one from Rogue and then one from Explorer or Fire Adept, etc. Those categories always try to have at least one Class specific research and one specialization based research. Those 12 are divided into 4 categories: standard empire upgrades (Seafaring/Logistics, Casting Points, Class Units), Empire Upgrades, Strategic Spells and Combat Spells all get 3 spots in the book each.
